That's some serious love for Borderlands! I only played it for about 6 hours and quit for whatever reason...perhaps I should keep playing.
Thank god somebody else other than me isn't riding ODST's jock...man Halo is getting old. Long live Dragon Age and Uncharted!!!
I love Plants vs. Zombies just as much as the next guy, but not sure it should be GotY. Should have given it to a much larger, higher value console or PC title...can't really include downloadable games..can we? That's like Napolean Dynamite winning Best Picture.
Yeah..sorry, but ODST is mediocre at best. I agree with pretty much everything else, though I didn't love Torchlight as much as Raychul. And Super Mario Bros kind of won by defualt..wasn't it the only Wii game released this year?
MW2 and Uncharted...enough said. Borderlands, Dragon Age, Mario Bros, and RE5 round out the rest of the pack. But no Sports Game of the Year? I would've liked to see The Most Creative Award...something not many outlets do.
Why can't Plants vs. Zombies win GOTY? Should it be disqualified just because it's a smaller budget title? That doesn't seem very fair. :) I think Napolean Dynamite should be able to win Best Picture if it is, in fact, the best picture. Why not? The award isn't for Best Big-Budget Picture!

Hey Shoe, didn't mean to insult your pick, and you're right... smaller games shouldn't be disqualified. It's just hard for me to imagine a scenario where I would place handheld, Live or PSN games, or smaller budget titles in the same category as 40 million dollar console or PC games. I mean, how odd would it be for a DS game to win GotY? Sure, DS games are fun, but even the best one's provide a watered down experience that is hard to take seriously when compared to the best console games. If Plants vs. Zombies can win GotY, why not an updated version of Mah-jong or even Peggle for that matter?
Peggle was awesome, but not once throughout the entire 40 or 50 hours I played it did it cross my mind to consider it as GotY, even though it was incredible. But, this is my opinion, and I respect yours Shoe :)
